Description
Relaxing the astro-world-community requirements on the "world's largest telescopes" changes considerably what large telescopes are possible. In fact, best-cost projections suggest that optical/IR telescopes larger than EELT and less expensive than TMT are feasible and could address some of the difficult problems the stellar and exoplanetary community are interested in. This talk will describe the efforts of a privately funded consortium of scientists and engineers to make this possibility a future reality.
