Description
Beyond standard model theories providing viable candidates for dark matter will be introduced. I will then concentrate on the phenomenological and experimental aspects related to the existence of an extra U(1)' symmetry group describing an additional fundamental interaction with respect to the standard model, where this new interaction, called dark force, might represent the mediator of interactions between standard model particles (neutrals under U(1)') and dark matter particles belonging to a so called hidden sector. Experimental signatures and searches for dark photon will be discussed together with the potential sensitivities of current and planned experiments.
