Description
Charmonium states below the open-charm threshold provide a rich laboratory for studying the spectrum and interactions of mesons consisting of light quarks. Studying light meson spectra from the decays of relatively heavy charmonium states, with plenty of phase-space and small backgrounds, is complementary to conventional ways of exploring meson spectra by using pion or photon beams. In particular, Xi_c1 decays into three pseudo-scalars, Xi_c1 -> eta pi pi and Xi_c1 -> eta_prime pi pi provide an environment for investigating exotic meson production (mesons that do not fit into simple quark-antiquark model). Amplitude analysis is essential tool in understanding two-body sub-structures observed in these three-body decays. Recent result from CLEO-c and preliminary BESIII results will be presented.
