DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Andrej Seljak (Jozef Stefan Institute)\n\nHigh Energ
y Physics experiments relay heavily on the development of advanced single
photon detectors\, predominantly for Particle Identification Devices.  As
experiments continue to increment requirements\, and adding system comple
xity\, multiple development efforts are ongoing exploring MicroChannel Pla
te devices as well as and their counterparts\,  the Silicon Photomultipli
ers - SiPMs. This talk will discuss the operation of (MCPs and SiPMs) sing
le photon detectors\, and provide the current state of the art performanc
e information. \nSince more and more these detectors are used for interdi
sciplinary research.  In the second part of this talk\, I will provide a
few examples of usage outside HEP\, which do have an interesting research
  or usage potential. \n\nhttps://indico.phys.hawaii.edu/event/2807/
