Description
Particle detectors capable of detecting the directions of low energy nuclear recoils open windows into previously unprobed areas of physics. Specifically, the potential directional detection of coherent elastic neutrino nucleus scattering (CENS) provides opportunities to probe potential BSM physics involved in that interaction as well as providing a tool for probing previously stubborn areas of parameter space in the search for dark matter. Here I examine the feasibility of a directional CE
NS detector to be installed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Spallation Neutron Source and detail some of the initial optimization that I have already done.
