In this colloquium I will discuss the possibility that quantum effects can reveal the origin of neutrino masses via the neutrino oscillation phenomenon. The quantum effects I will talk about refer to the fact that some quantities that we typically call “constants” may acquire a dependence on the energy scale of a given process. This energy scale dependence can show up as unexpected neutrino flavor changes. I will describe what are quantum corrections pedagogically, and I will briefly discuss neutrino oscillations and the imprints of the quantum effects on it.
