Implantable Brain Computer Interfaces

by Prof. Kurtis Nishimura (UH Physics)

Description

I will give a short introduction to neural recordings and brain computer interfaces.  Following this introduction, I can discuss current work at Paradromics, which has pivoted from extremely high channel count acute recording systems toward building a fully implantable brain computer interface for clinical use.  I will highlight some unique design considerations to neural interfaces and implantable medical devices, and discuss some techniques that have been developed at Paradromics for analog compressive sensing.  I will also share some personal perspective on working in this very unique field.
