For decades the leading attempts to discover new fundamental particles have been large undertakings, requiring decades of effort, thousands of physicists, and billions of dollars. More recently, however, new ideas have led to novel opportunities for discovery with relatively fast, small, and cheap experiments in the so-called forward region at particle colliders. In this talk, I will explain how this new approach came to be; highlight FASER, the Forward Search Experiment, now under construction; and describe the proposed Forward Physics Facility, which will accommodate a suite of forward physics experiments at the LHC.
