Description
Data Science is an emerging interdisciplinary field that draws methods from natural, computer, and social sciences with the ultimate goal of extracting valuable insights from our ever-growing datasets. In this talk I will give a brief overview of the field of Data Science and describe the trajectory of my own transition from Physicist to Data Scientist. Moreover, I will argue that as an interdisciplinary effort, Data Science can provide an important bridge across which Physics can provide expertise, but also gain new perspectives and techniques.
