Description

Gamma-ray spectrometers with 3-D position sensitivity are of interest in homeland security, high energy astrophysics and medical imaging applications. Current systems developed by the University of Michigan rely on thick room temperature semiconductor detectors including CdZnTe, HgI2 and TlBr. In this presentation basic operation principles of semiconductor detectors will be discussed. Application and advantages of digital signal processing on signal readout will also be discussed
