Description

Abstract: Physics degree holders are highly employable in both the private
and public sectors. However, students and early career scientists are often
unaware of the types of career paths available to them. This talk will provide
an overview of career paths taken by physics degree holders, give examples of
common career paths, and highlight career resources useful for exploring
options and searching for and applying to jobs.

Speaker: Chad Kishimoto is an Associate Professor at the University of San
Diego. Born and raised in Honolulu, he graduated from Roosevelt High School
in Makiki, then earned his BS in physics at Caltech and Ph.D. at UC San
Diego. Following that, he completed a postdoc at UCLA and then joined the
faculty at the University of San Diego in 2014, where he develops computational
models to explore neutrinos and weak interactions in astrophysical
environments. He is an APS Career Mentoring Fellow, serves on the National
Council of the Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma, and the
Southern California chapter of the American Association of Physics Teachers.
