Description
It is only within the last year that we have been able to directly measure black hole systems merging with each other. Multiple merging events have been measured from their emission of gravitational waves. This has catalyzed many fundamental tests of general relativity and has raised new astrophysical questions about their origin.
Intricate machines were built to unprecedented sensitivity to measure these tiny signals here on Earth. I will discuss recent results from the LIGO collaboration, along with a roadmap towards attaining a full gravitational wave spectrum.
